Two ways we build
The planning is the same: bottle count, cooling load, racking layout. What changes is who has to live with it, your family or a dining room full of guests.
Residential
Under the stairs, in a closet, behind glass off the dining room, or the whole basement wall. We plan the capacity, size the cooling and draw the racking so your contractor knows exactly what to build.
Commercial
Restaurants, wine bars, wineries, tasting rooms and retail. Display that sells the list, bulk storage that holds it, and cooling that stays quiet while the room is full.

We work out the heat load, glazing, insulation, door traffic, then specify a unit from WhisperKOOL, Wine Guardian, CellarPro or CellarCool. Nobody guesses a tonnage.

Transtherm, Le Cache and Marvel cabinets and built-ins for when a cellar is not the answer, sized to the space, the bottle count and the doorway they have to fit through.
Already have a contractor? Bring their plans and questions to Mike to work through the cellar details. If you still need an installer, Wine Hardware can make a referral.
Filters, replacement units, thermostats and an honest opinion about whether a unit is worth repairing. Warranty claims go through the manufacturer; we tell you what they will ask.
How a cellar happens
A photo and a rough measurement give Mike a starting point. Use the steps below to prepare for a conversation about the room and the wine you want to store.
Interior walls, away from the furnace, out of the afternoon sun. Send photos and a rough dimension and we will tell you what that room can hold.
Exact dimensions, ceiling height and wall build-up. We plan racking by bottle format and leave room for the magnums you will inevitably buy.

Review the drawings, product list and lead times with Mike and your contractor. Agree on delivery and installation arrangements before the order is placed.
