What we do
Fitting cellars since 1973.
Mike Vecchia joined in 2001; he and Cari bought the shop in 2014 and run it themselves. Pick the part of your project you are working on.
Residential cellars
We design home cellars under the stairs, in a closet, behind glass off the dining room, or across a full room, planning capacity, cooling and racking before anyone cuts wood.
Commercial cellars
We build commercial storage for restaurants, wineries, tasting rooms and retail, pairing label-forward display walls with bulk storage and quiet cooling.

Racking you can put your hands on
In our Walnut Creek showroom you can see rack kits standing up, compare wood species and stains in daylight, open the wine cabinets, and spread your floor plan out on the counter.
Bring a photo of the space and a bottle count and Mike will work through it with you at the counter.

Straight answers
What people ask before they call
- Do you build the cellar, or just sell the parts?
- We design it, size the cooling, supply the racking and equipment, and coordinate delivery. Mike brings in contractors he has worked with for the framing, insulation, vapor barrier, electrical work and installation. If your cellar is part of a larger remodel and you already have a general contractor, Mike works alongside them.
- What does a cellar cost?
- Three things decide it: the room (a closet conversion is a small equipment order; a glazed room with custom racking and a split system is a build), the bottle count by format, and the cooling the room needs. Send the dimensions and a bottle count and Mike gives you a real range for your room, not a brochure number.
- How many bottles will my room hold?
- It depends on the racking as much as the room. The 3-foot VintageView W Series rack holds 9 bottles single deep; a Le Cache Vault 3100 cabinet holds 368. Send the dimensions and we will work it out by format, magnums included.
- Can I just use a wine refrigerator instead?
- Often, yes. A good cabinet holds cellar conditions without converting a room. Check the usable capacity of the exact model against your bottles, then bring the dimensions in and compare it against a built cellar.
- How long does it take?
- Design comes first and takes as long as your decisions do. Equipment is ordered once it is sized: rack kits and through-wall units are the quick part; split systems and custom racking take longer. The contractors Mike brings in schedule the build when the equipment date is firm, and he gives you the sequence before anything is ordered.
