A real capacity number
Compare the exact rack arrangement with your bottles. Magnums, splits and Burgundy bottles may need different supports or spacing; confirm fit before ordering.
Cooling sized to the room
We calculate the heat load from wall build-up, glass area and where the condenser can breathe, then quote WhisperKOOL, Wine Guardian or CellarPro against that number.
Drawings your contractor can use
Elevations, clearances and rough-in notes, so the framer, the electrician and the glazier all work from the same page.
Support from the showroom

How a cellar happens
Five steps from a spare wall to a stocked cellar
Agree on the scope, equipment and current lead times before ordering. The schedule depends on the room, products and work your contractor needs to complete.
Tell us about the room
Where the wine will live, how many bottles you own, and how many you expect to own in five years. Photos and a rough sketch are enough to start.
We measure and check the envelope
Dimensions, insulation, vapour barrier, glass, power and where the heat can be rejected. This is the step that prevents expensive surprises.
Design and capacity
Rack elevations, bottle count by type, cooling options and finishes. You see the layout and the number before anything is ordered.
Order and coordinate
Wine Hardware supplies cellar equipment and helps coordinate installation. If you need an installer, call Mike for a referral and work through the details your contractor needs.
Prepare to fill the room

Questions we get from every town
Do you charge for the first conversation?
The first cellar consultation is free. Call Mike at (925) 944-1084 with your room ideas to compare the options. Before requesting detailed design work, agree on the scope and any fees.
Do you install, or only supply?
We design and supply cellar equipment and help coordinate installation. Bring Mike the room details and any kit you are considering to review which work needs an installer and what the kit’s assembly instructions require. If you need a contractor, we can make a referral.
How far will you travel?
Regularly across Contra Costa and Alameda counties, and into San Francisco, Napa and Sonoma. The Peninsula and Palo Alto are a longer day, but we do them. If your town is not on this list, call anyway — the answer is usually yes.
What does a cellar cost?
Cost depends on the room preparation, racking, cooling and finishes. Send dimensions and a bottle count so we can discuss the scope and the information needed for a project quote.
Can you work with my architect or contractor?
We can discuss the cellar scope with your architect or contractor. Bring the plans early enough to review enclosure, equipment locations, clearances and installation responsibilities before finishes are fixed.
Do I actually need cooling?
Review the room’s actual conditions and how they change through the year before choosing passive storage or active cooling. Share the construction details, surrounding spaces and storage goals with Wine Hardware to discuss what information is needed.
