Why it matters where you are
Start with the room.
A basement and a garage need different preparation. Check moisture, insulation and the space around the room before choosing equipment. The racking catalog is the same; the cooling, insulation and door depend on your room.
So Mike starts with where the room is and what is around it, then gets to the equipment. It is the part a website cannot do for you.

- Most cellars start as an under-stair closet, a pantry, a garage bay or a dining room wall.
- Bottles you actually own
- Cases, magnums and Burgundy shoulders all want different spacing. Bring the count.
- Who does what
- We plan and supply the cellar. Mike schedules the contractors he brings in to build and install it, and everyone works from the same drawing.
How a cellar happens
From a spare wall to a stocked cellar
Agree on scope, equipment and lead times before you order. The schedule follows the room, product availability and the schedule of the contractors Mike brings in.

Tell us about the room
Tell us where the wine will live, how many bottles you own and how you expect the collection to grow. Photos and a rough sketch are enough to start.

We measure and check the envelope
Dimensions, insulation, vapor barrier, glass, power and where the heat can go. Check these before choosing the equipment.

Design and capacity
We prepare rack elevations, a bottle count by type, cooling options and finishes so you see the layout and capacity before anything is ordered.

Order and coordinate
We order the equipment, and Mike schedules the contractors he has worked with for the build and installation.
- 5
Prepare to fill the room
Mike walks his crew through storage access, equipment instructions and the finished layout. Then bring him your wish list and pick out wine and accessories at the showroom.

- Do you charge to come out?
- Send the dimensions and photos you already have to (925) 944-1084. Most projects get a long way on that alone, and Mike will tell you honestly whether a site visit would add anything.
- How far do you go?
- We serve the fifteen Bay Area cities listed here. If your project is elsewhere, call Mike with the location and scope.
- Can I just buy the equipment?
- Yes. Plenty of people come in for a cooling unit or a rack kit and fit it themselves. The shop is a shop; the design service is there if you want it.
- What if we already have a general contractor?
- Mike works alongside them when the cellar is part of a larger remodel. Bring the current drawings and he will mark up what the room needs for power, framing, venting and condensate before the walls close.
